The homeowners love their neighborhood and their home, so a home renovation with an addition was an ideal choice. This project presented an interesting challenge: In order to maximize the view, we needed to create additional space for windows without compromising on shear value, which is the ability for the walls to support horizontal loads. We incorporated steel framing so that we could remove some walls without compromising shear value and, working closely with talented engineers and architects, we are able to transform the homeowner’s dream into a reality.
